I love big, open views. They seem to let the mind travel great distances in an instant. I wanted to see if I could paint an image that would do the same thing. The challenge was to make a winsome view with a soft feel without any point of interest beyond the oversized bales of hay sitting ready in the field. I only recently have seen these big bales so they had to be in the picture. Additionally, I made a small painting where typically I would have reached for a larger canvas. I kept the value range of the colors very similar to achieve the effect and reduced the details to just the essential levels.
