Going into Town, oil on canvas, 22×40
I painted this view because it is a quintessential image of the West. I originally hail from Michigan, and we always talked about either going out west, as we termed it, or moving there. I did the latter some thirty years ago.
This is a view of the side street leading into Fairfield, Idaho. I absolutely love the joining of the little town with the foothills and mountains of the background. Seeing the agricultural fields join the businesses and shops satisfy my dreams of one day moving west. Gravel roads up to the towns edge further enforces the mental image I’d had. I feel fortunate to have caught this reference shot that so completely captured what I imagined all those years ago before I moved out west.
