Getting good cloud images is about being ready at a moment’s notice or when opportunity provides. This view was taken out my window as I was riding downtown to Gallery 903.
This is a view looking north in the late fall just before the leaves fall. What I like was the contrast of complementary colors of the purplish sky and the yellowish foreground. Another notable contrast is the busy activity of the sky and middle ground to the placid solidness of the foreground pasture.
These contrasts help to invite the viewer deeper into the painting to enjoy the multitude of carefully mixed colors and how they seem to automatically separate the layers from the front to the back of the piece.
